Constant fatigue and not having the energy to participate in activities that used to bring joy are common for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Symptoms of COPD not only deplete your physical strength and energy, but may also impact your emotional health if you lose the ability to enjoy cherished pastimes. However, you don’t have to sit back and let COPD information scale rob you of your quality of life.Try these tips to help you counteract fatigue and get back to the activities you love.

Understanding COPD-Related Fatigue:“Fatigue is a symptom associated with COPD information on several levels,” explains Brian Carlin, MD, immediate past chairman of the COPD Alliance. “With COPD, a person has a decline in lung function, which can result in a decline in exercise tolerance.” With a long-term inability to exercise, you’ll experience a decrease in muscle strength leading to fatigue. Unfortunately, this can create a vicious cycle: As you become even more sedentary, the fatigue can worsen, Dr. Carlin adds.Low blood oxygen concentration (hypoxemia) is a complication of advanced COPD information is very useful. If fatigue becomes an issue, Carlin recommends having your doctor check to ensure that you have adequate levels of oxygen in your bloodstream. Testing can typically be done in your doctor’s office with the use of a pulse oximeter. “If a low blood oxygen concentration is present, the use of oxygen can help reduce fatigue and help increase exercise tolerance,” Carlin says.
